Greetings beloved Annunciation Parishioners,

On Sunday, December 21st, our Annunciation youth will visit homes and businesses to spread Christmas cheer the traditional Greek way—by singing Kalanda!

Kalanda are beautiful Greek carols sung from home to home and business to business, sharing blessings of health, joy, and prosperity for the new year. This centuries-old custom reminds us of the warmth of community, the joy of giving, and the spirit of our Orthodox faith.

We will be caroling from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 21st. Please sign up with your name and address. We’ll create a schedule and contact you a few days in advance to let you know the approximate time we’ll be visiting! All proceeds benefit our Annunciation Youth Dance Ministry.

Wishing everyone a blessed Nativity Fast!

Tuesday, November 4, 2025 Update

This week, our students had an exciting opportunity to bring language learning to life through a practical lesson!
Rather than simply learning from a textbook, students engaged in real-world communication and interactive activities that encouraged them to think, speak, and create in their second language.
They visited various areas of Greece, including Athens, Thessaloniki, Crete, and Mitilini.
We’re proud of our students’ participation and creativity. This successful practical learning experience reminds us that language is not just learned—it’s lived.

More to come!

October 26 & 28, 2025, OXI Day Celebration

On Sunday, October 26th, our students delivered a truly unique performance that left everyone inspired and amazed! Their creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm filled the stage and reminded us all of the joy that comes from learning, expression, and collaboration.

On Tuesday, October 28th, our Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Level 1 students marched for this special occasion, chanting OXI! This year’s presentation was especially memorable because we had a special guest, fellow parishioner Mrs. Kyriaki Frangkogianni, whose book inspired our Level 3 students to recite poems!

Let us not forget our culture's courage and strength to say OXI and maintain our land, faith, and dignity!

September 23, 2025, Agiasmos and Orientation

On September 23rd, we welcomed back students, teachers, families, and their guardians to our Agiasmo Service and Orientation as we commenced our Greek School year.

With reassurance, Father John, our board, and teachers are delighted to serve as good shepherds to your children. We are here to instill not only academic values but also Christ-like love. Our mission is to provide a community where hearts are nurtured, friendships are formed, and Christ remains at the center of all that we do.

We hope that, with your guidance and partnership, we can help them all grow in their love for our culture and encourage them to live out their faith both inside and outside of our church.

We thank you for your commitment and dedication to your children’s growth and development. Your support of our Greek School ministry makes a difference in fostering the learning program and building a strong foundation for future generations.

MISSION

The Annunciation Elkins Park Greek School was founded in 1901 as a youth ministry of the Philadelphia Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Community.  The program strives to implement the educational aims and goals of the Charter of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the decisions of the Clergy-Laity Congresses. Our mission is to instruct children in the modern Greek language, instill a sense of pride and respect for Hellenic heritage and history, promote the values of our faith, and encourage fellowship among Greek Orthodox families and church communities.

PARTICIPATION

In partnership with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Department of Greek Education, our curriculum and materials consist of books provided by Papaloizou and Greek 123 software for all registered students. Class levels are Pre-K - Level 6.  Students must be four years old by September 1 of the current year.  Please see our Greek School Handbook and Registration Form for further information. Courses are taught by teachers who are fluent native Greek speakers. The program covers the study of the Greek language, history, culture, geography, and music, as well as the Greek Orthodox faith.
